What stories do you tell yourself?

There is not much in life we can control, however, the one thing we can control is the way we respond (in public) to the negative things life has in store for us. I am not telling you to ignore your emotions and create an inability to feel, but I am telling you that there is a way to act that puts yourself into a better light for others. Sometimes simply taking a walk can reset the system enough to allow oneself to reflect and see the bigger picture.
Emotions happen, life happens, and it is up to each individual to take responsibility in changing the way they show up in the world. Each person needs to feel what they feel and not try to run from these moments. Medication can be helpful in order to correct chemical inbalances that may be in the brain which can cause emotional disturbances, but that is for a psychiatrist to figure out, and I am not a psychiatrist.
A good first step in learning about yourself is to book an appointment with a therapist. A therapist is a mirror that reflects back what you might already know about yourself. In a world full of invalidation maybe it is time to schedule at least an hour to be validated, because after all everyone wants to be validated.
